Job description
As R&D Engineer, you play a key role in transforming process concepts into working mechanical prototypes. You design, develop, test and refine mechanical modules that support feasibility studies and the development of next-generation production equipment.
Concept Development
Define and propose mechanical prototype concepts to validate new process ideas. Translate functional requirements into practical design solutions.
Mechanical Design and 3D Modelling
Convert process concepts into detailed 3D models and component specifications for prototype modules and equipment.
Prototype Assembly Support
Collaborate with assembly teams during prototype build and testing. Troubleshoot, refine and optimise the mechanical design based on test outcomes.
Supplier and Part Coordination
Collaborate with suppliers, order required parts and follow up deliveries with supply chain to ensure timely assembly and prototype readiness.
Continuous Improvement
Identify improvements for existing equipment and communicate design learnings across the mechanical engineering team.
Project Reporting
Consult with and report progress to the R&D Manager, ensuring deliverables are achieved according to project planning and technological roadmap.
Required competences & skills
- MSc in Electro-Mechanical Engineering or equivalent through experience
- Minimum 5 years of experience in equipment development or mechanical design for process applications (pharma or similar high-spec environment is an advantage)
- Strong mechanical engineering and 3D design capabilities
- Creative, solution-oriented mindset with attention to detail
- Familiarity with prototype build and test phases
- Strong communication skills and collaborative approach
- Fluent in English and Dutch
- Safety-conscious and aligned with environmental and quality principles
